An ergonomic workstation assessment involves analysing how an individual interacts with their workstation. Incorrect setup for staff whose work is primarily computer based can place the worker at risk of developing pain, discomfort and injury.

An assessment by an Occupational Therapist will involve an analysis of the workstation setup combined with the physical characteristics of the individual, their job demands and work practices. This can be undertaken in a 30 to 45 minute session for an individual or longer for groups. The assessment will also include basic education in correct seating posture and relative muscular stretches for ongoing benefits.

Documented recommendations are provided to the employer and may include:

  • Adjustments to the workstation
  • Change in work practices
  • Equipment provision

A more detailed assessment can be provided for a worker who is presenting with symptoms that may be associated with, or aggravated by their workstation setup or work practices.

Benefits of an ergonomic assessment can include improvements in work quality, an increase in productivity, lower rates of turnover, prevention of injury and compensation claims and less worker absenteeism. We can help you achieve these outcomes within your business.
